Mick Dierdorff's Olympic Quest

Growing up in Steamboat Springs Colorado has provided me with the amazing opportunity to become a winter sports athlete. I have been competing in Snowboard Cross since I was 10 and have been climbing the ranks ever since. From early childhood, I have admired the flags of Steamboat Olympians in Olympian Hall. My ultimate dream has been to have my name on a flag up there one day and now it is time to put those dreams into reality.

Earning a place on the international stage of Snowboard Cross took a lot of hard work as the US has more World Cup caliber riders than any other nation. After a successful 2012/13 season, I secured my personal spot for the World Cup competitions for the 2013/2014 season. Beating some of the top riders in the world head to head, I know that I have what it takes to earn one of the 4 Olympic spots.

There are 5 World Cup competitions that will be held in Europe and Canada. The results from the first 4 races will determine the top 4 Americans who will represent the USA at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

Training for and competing in all of the races next year rings up quite a hefty bill. My coach and I have estimated the costs to be around $30,000 for the upcoming season. This includes: Program and coaching fees, travel, Lodging, and equipment expenses.

With the upcoming season being the most expensive one I've had yet, I am reaching out to friends, family, and acquaintances I've met along the way for help with funding. My amazing parents have been so generous to help me through the years with chasing my competitive ambitions while earning a college education. However, after 7 years of national and international competition, the funds have been depleted.

This summer I am getting in the best shape of my life in preparation for the upcoming season. A weekly regimen of Manic Training, a local endurance and cross training gym, is making me agile, quick, and strong. Mountain biking is my new favorite form of cross training and I ride as much as possible. I am also working for a custom home construction company building a timber frame horse arena, and saving every penny I earn to help reach my goals.

No donation is too small and words can't describe the gratitude I have for your generosity in helping me on my way to the 2014 US Olympic Team. Please share this with your family, friends, co-workers, acquaintances, and help me network with companies and organizations that might be interested in helping me with my Olympic Quest!

Thank you everyone for all the support!
