New prostetic leg

Hello everyone

In 2001 a friend and myself were walking down the sidewalk on our way to the store. We were suddenly hit by a drunk driver that had jumped the curb and lost control of the vehicle. A good friend was killed and I was pinned against a retaining wall. Due to the severity of the injuries I lost my right leg, shatterd my pelvis, and my other leg was crushed.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and eventually sent to prison but the court advised that I would be responsible for all medical bills since the driver had no insurance or a license.

Well after that I went into a depression and my life was a downward spiral. I spent several years in a state of mind that I just wanted to run away or just not think about life. I just did not care about anything.

In the last year I have been working on reversing that type of thinking and I am moving past the guilt and trying to get my life back in order and contribute to society.

I have since enrolled in school to get my GED and I have been getting some therapy to help me move past the accident. I have a prosthetic that I have used for the last eleven years but it has outserved its purpose. I can no longer use it for prolonged periods of time as it becomes exruciating painful. Because of the pain I can longer work full time as a chef because I can not be on my feet for very long.

I do not qualify for any type of help as I am deemed capable of being productive even though I am essentially disabled with a prosthetic that was only suppose to be temporary structure.

I am trying so hard to do something with my life and I want to further my education and go to college so I can make a difference in this world. This is where I need help. I am desperate and need a new prostethic as I can no longer go on with the one I have been using. I can not afford this on part time pay and I do not qualify for assistance to get a new one.

I am asking all of you for your help. I have no other avenues but to ask for the publics help. Even if it is a small donation, it is one more step closer to being able to walk without pain and being able to contribute to my fullest abilities. Please help me!
