Say Goodbye to the Frame Makers

UPDATE IN BOLD 9/27/13
Well, we've done all we can to try and save the shop. I'm sorry to say that it's time to move on. I've been shown so much love and support, by so many lovely people who barely had anything to give, but gave all they could, in any way they could. I am eternally grateful for you, my friends.

So the next step is to figure out how to gracefully move on. I still have a couple of months rent to pay, and taxes, which is why I still have a goal amount showing. If you are at all willing and able to help, I will appreciate it greatly.

I will keep you informed when I figure out my timeline.

I'm sad, of course, but I'm also really proud. I was the last standing independent frame shop in Tacoma. We made it 8 1/2 years!!! That is an amazing accomplishment in these times. It's been a good run!

I will miss my clients (FRIENDS) immensely, but I'm also a little excited to see what's next.

Thank you all, you don't know how much it has meant to me to see how much you all care.

Anna

For nearly 8 1/2 years now, I have been working hard to keep my little frame shop afloat. It has required passion, hard work, sacrifice, and struggles too numerous to mention.

I have seen a lot of my colleagues in small independent frame shops, galleries and similar businesses go under one by one, and have been proud and humbled to manage to stay around somehow. I have had a very loyal customer base, many of whom have become good friends, I've won numerous awards, framed for Moroccan Royalty, served as president on the Board of The Evergreen Picture Framer's Guild, judged framing competitions when they got tired of me winning them (lol) and been seen as successful to onlookers.

But this last two years have taken their toll. Trying to support the shop, myself, my employees, with unexpected difficult life circumstances, medical bills, taxes, big box competition, and a floundering economy... I'm sorry to say, it has caught up to me.

I have reached a point where I can no longer serve the customers that I so love, that love us as well, and honestly, I'm embarrassed to ask for help, but I can think of no other options. If I can get back to zero, I know I can make this a success again. I still have so much to give, to teach, and to learn...

oh, and here is my website, if you'd like to check out my company a bit. www.frame-makers.com

Thank you, my friends, for listening and caring. Please help spread the word if you can.
