About This Page

25sg is Newcastle's best-kept secret! But not for much longer!

A house, close to Heaton Park, offering intriguing domestic spaces and an open and warm welcome to artists and audiences who are attracted to the possibilities of live/performance art.

Carole Luby set up this artists’ space in her home two years ago and, with the support of a small team, has been running an 8-month annual programme involving residencies, workshops, discussions and live events for local and international artists.

We are passionate about supporting artists who want to try things out in a safe, supportive yet challenging environment.  Our strengths lie in enabling artists to experiment, play, and develop their practice without the external pressure of leading to an end product.  Many of the artists who have worked at 25sg in the past year have gone on to develop quality work elsewhere which encourages us to want to continue generating these opportunities for artists.

In addition to paying artists’ production, accommodation and travel costs, managing the programme requires money for curatorial support, insurance and hospitality at events and workshops. We also employ a dedicated team to administer and document the work.  The operating costs for 25sg averages at £147.93 per day.

We were successful in getting most of this year's budget from Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts, however we have drawn a blank with other fundraising efforts.  To help us support the quality programme for 2011 we are asking anybody who has worked with us, knows about us and believes in the project, to make a donation.

Everyone who donates will be invited to a celebration event at the end of the 2011 programme to say thank you.

Will you help us to continue doing what we love best, offering unique opportunities to artists and audience alike to engage with high quality live art in the house in Newcastle…

Every contribution helps!

Thank you.
The 25sg team.
