Rescue a Dairy Farm

Support A Small Dairy Farm's Survival

Dear Friends,

I'm writing to you on behalf of a family friend, neighbor, renter of my family's fields, and yes, distant relative. Walter had the fifteen year loan on his dairy farm paid up to the last year and then the economy - along with the milk prices - tanked. He lost money, couldn't pay his loans, and hasn't been able to climb back out of the hole since.

The bank says that he is out of time to pay up: no more loans and no selling of personal property (because technically the bank owns it all) allowed. His wife works at Walmart, but essentially they will shortly be homeless if they are unable to meet their loan requirement in full.

This dairy farm has been their life, and he would like nothing more than to get out from under his loans and retire in peace on the farm to which he and his wife have dedicated so many years of sweat. But even if we can't raise enough to save their home and land, this couple will still need some way to provide for food and shelter. Maybe you can only donate $1 or simply want to offer up your prayers. We are immensely thankful for any sort of contribution you can make.
