Dear Beloved Friends and...
Dear Beloved Friends and all those we have yet to meet that reached out to help make our flood recovery easier...
We cannot thank you enough for your concerns and contributions. With your help we are getting back on our feet faster than we could've imagined. We've been able to hire electricians to get limited power back, a structural engineer to assess the integrity of the house and local craftsmen to begin rebuilding. We have a long road ahead but with your contributions we have been able to start purchasing industrial cleanup equipment and basic amenities. We hope to see a grant from FEMA come in and we've been assured a low interest loan for rebuilding will be available.
We are so fortunate to live in a village-minded community that drops everything when people need help. We are even more fortunate to have friends like Sam and Jeni Wahl who take it upon themselves to rally the masses in our honor, and to have received so much from all of you! We are extremely grateful to Chris' brother, Ken Hancock, who dropped everything to spend a week in the mud with us, organizing and documenting the damage and the beginning of our recovery. We feel as blessed as we do unworthy for all the support. We are humbled by and reassured of the inherent goodness of human beings.
At this point we feel we have received enough. There are many in our own community who's homes literally floated away and have had to take refuge in shelters. Ours is a down home, rural community full of honest, hard working, creative people. Therefore, any contributions from here on will be paid forward to local relief organizations for those who lost their homes and who's recovery will be far longer and more difficult than ours.
Once again, we want to thank everyone for their generosity, love and support in a tough time for us and the good folks of Nashville. All those who have reached out to help will always be welcome at the (future) new and improved "Chateau Hancock."
For those of you that have been following our adoption process, we have been in close contact with our agency and they assure us that everything is moving along smoothly. Our setback should not affect the process in any way. Whew!
With Love and Gratitude,
Chris and Melissa Hancock
