Once in a lifetime opportunities don’t come around that often. What if you were given the opportunity to collaborate, grow and innovate ideas with only a handful of brilliant minds and international thought leaders at one of the countries foremost centers for innovation? And this experience was at the NASA and Google supported Singularity University (SU) where the goal is to design technologies for the greater good?

Would you take that opportunity?

A celebrated woman in tech, Alison Lewis, was given this opportunity and is on her way to study with 80 of the greatest technological minds of our time. The goal at SU is to create a solution that will improve the lives of 10 billion people. She has only 10-weeks to do it. [Read more about Alison Below and watch her TV Reel Here]

A celebrated member of the fashion/tech community, Alison believes that “Being able to attend is going to be a life changing experience, but just going to the program isn't enough. I am on a mission to prove that any crafty, fashion focused, American-Idol watching, Facebook socializing, spa-loving girl can make it in engineering and the sciences and still have style.”

Alison wants to share her adventure with the world by producing documentary-style webisodes of the experience. Her interaction with others, what she learns, whom she meets, and the innovation process will all be documented for the world to see. As a techno-stylist for a new WEtv Show (sill in production) and host of the nationally televised, MYHome 2.0, filming the experience is a natural extension of her work on TV and film. With this documentary, she hopes to bring the same excitement to technology and innovation as Project Runway did for the field of Fashion.

GiT (Girls in Tech) is pleased to support Alison’s efforts and the spirit of women in technology at singularity. Through programs like Tech U, Gi Mentorship, and our citizen journalism/video pilots, GiT and Alison are celebrating the achievements of the entrepreneurial and technical woman. Women like Alison inspire, celebrate and empower the women influencers of tomorrow and show the diversity of our technical community.

As a part of this effort, GIT will help is rallying $7,000 in tax-deductable donations, for Singularity U, to foster the empowerment of the global technology and entrepreneurial communities. Livestreaming and video costs will be volunteer-led from the San Fransisco area (more on how to help with this soon). We look forward to your support and involvement in this effort to inspire professional and young women to embrace technology.

Donate. Documenting a 10-week experience isn’t easy. Alison has devoted her time and invested our own money into this project and in helping women to embrace technology, but your pledges could help turn the Singular Blonde project into an achievement we can ALL share.

Where Your Money Goes

GIT will be supporting Alison in her efforts to document the experience, but she is still shy to get there. We ask your support for $7,000 for in tuition. Alison is among a select group of 80 which Singularity U feels can help the world to be a better place and needs your financial support. 

SINGULARITY UNIVERSITY IS INCORPORATED as a PRIVATE NON-PROFIT in CALIFORNIA. This means it is tax-deductible.

All donators will receive a contributor listing on the www.iheartSwitch.com Singular Blonde website (can remain anonymous if desired). For donations above $1000, your logo will be placed on main page of the website. 

For Up to $25

All donators will receive a contributor listing on the www.iheartSwitch.com Singular Blonde website (can remain anonymous if desired). All donors will be signed up for the documentation blog to be the first to receive updates, special announcements, videos, and photos of the experience. You'll also have access to exclusive online information. 

For $250

All donors will receive the above plus a personalized signed copy of Alison's book Switch Craft: Battery Powered Crafts to Make and Sew published by Random House/Potter Craft. 

For anything Over $250

You logo will be placed on Alison’s web site. In addition, will be directed to Girls in Tech and Alison will to discuss a gift that fits your company's needs.

About Alison

Alison Lewis, named one of Fast Companies Most Influential Women in Technology for 2010, is an author, designer, techno-stylist, fashion technologist, and TV Host. Her passion is in creating and inspiring many more technological female role models to help break the social stigmas that women encounter when they begin to embrace computer science, electronic engineering, and other computational and robotic endeavors.
